We are so excited to be partnering with Ibiza restaurant in downtown Santa Cruz for an opportunity to be in community, enjoy great food, support a fabulous local business and raise funds for the Center for Farmworker Families. If you are looking for a way to show support for the hard working farmers who make eating well possible, you are not alone!
The Center for Farmworker Families is committed to educating the public about the challenges that farm workers face, supporting those workers directly and advocating on their behalf. Their monthly Farm Worker Reality Tours allow the community to meet local workers, hear their stories, see where they live and better understand the challenges they face. The Center also champions the CORA initiative, a local call to major farms in Watsonville and Monterey to go organic, particularly around schools and family residences. Watsonville and Monterey County have exceptionally high rates of childhood cancer and other developmental disabilities linked to pesticide exposure. These workers face high exposure in the fields, at home and in their children’s schools, which the CORA initiative hopes to change. The Center also supports farmers with monthly food and basic goods as well as legal support and help navigating the local school and healthcare systems.
Tickets are $125 per person.
We will be celebrating World Paella Day with Ibiza, featuring chicken and chorizo saffron paella (vegetarian/vegan paella will be available.) Dinner will also include Mediterranean platters of fresh crudités, dips, and freshly baked flatbread, kale salad with with carrot ginger vinaigrette, desert and drinks (including beer, wine, sangria and non alcoholic options.)
